High-purity zirconium with trace amounts of hafnium (usually less than 2.5%), iron, oxygen, and nitrogen is the standard ingredient for zirconium sheets and plates. Particularly in environments with high temperatures and acidity, these materials show exceptional resistance to corrosion. Depending on the grade and heat treatment, zirconium can have a density of 6.52 g/cm³, a tensile strength of 330 to 610 MPa, and a yield strength of 230 to 380 MPa. Zirconium is perfect for precision-fabricated components because of its excellent ductility, formability, and thermal conductivity, which allow it to maintain mechanical strength even in harsh chemical or nuclear environments.

In industries where exceptional corrosion resistance is crucial, zirconium sheets and plates are widely used. Because they are resistant to strong acids like sulphuric and hydrochloric acid, they are used to line heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and reactors in the chemical processing industry. Zirconium is perfect for cladding fuel rods and reactor components in the nuclear industry because of its low neutron absorption. Zirconium is used in the marine and aerospace industries for parts that are subjected to harsh environments and saltwater. It is also utilised in electronics, medical devices, and high-temperature applications where performance and safety depend on its durability, purity, and oxidation resistance.
