A balanced duplex microstructure (ferrite-austenite) is provided by Super Duplex Steel, which normally contains 24–26% chromium, 6–8% nickel, 3–5% molybdenum, and additions of nitrogen and manganese. In harsh conditions, this composition offers exceptional corrosion resistance. Excellent toughness, a yield strength of about 550 MPa, and a high tensile strength of up to 800 MPa are among the mechanical characteristics.
