Monel K500 Wire consists mainly of nickel (63%) and copper (27–33%), with minor but vital additions of aluminum and titanium. These alloying additions greatly improve its strength by age hardening. The wire has high tensile strength (at least 110 ksi), good stiffness, and high fatigue resistance. It is non-magnetic, even at sub-zero temperature, and retains mechanical properties at high pressure and temperature. Monel K500 also possesses superior corrosion resistance, especially in seawater and chemical environments, which makes it a good fit for applications that value reliability and durability.
