Monel 400 plates and sheets are made up mainly of nickel (about 63%) and copper (about 28%) with small traces of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. This material provides superior corrosion resistance, especially in seawater and acidic environments. Mechanically, Monel 400 has good tensile strength (up to 620 MPa), superior ductility, and good resistance to stress corrosion cracking and oxidation. It is structurally stable at high as well as sub-zero temperatures, and hence is weldable and fabricable.
