Invar 42 Sheets and Plates are made up of roughly 58% iron and 42% nickel, which gives them a controlled coefficient of thermal expansion. This alloy boasts excellent dimensional stability across a wide temperature range, making it ideal for precision applications. With a tensile strength of about 450–650 MPa, it offers good ductility and a low thermal expansion rate up to 300°C. Additionally, Invar 42 is easy to machine and exhibits magnetic properties at room temperature, enhancing its versatility in demanding environments that require tight dimensional control.
