A286 foil is a remarkable precipitation-hardenable iron-based superalloy, primarily made up of iron, nickel (24-27%), chromium (13.5-16%), molybdenum (1-1.5%), titanium, and small amounts of vanadium and aluminum. It’s celebrated for its impressive high-temperature strength, boasting a tensile strength of around 130 ksi (896 MPa) and excellent creep resistance up to 704°C (1300°F). This alloy also features outstanding oxidation resistance and good ductility. Thanks to its stable austenitic structure, A286 foil maintains its mechanical integrity even in harsh thermal environments, making it perfect for precision components that face stress, thermal cycling, and corrosive conditions.
